Gray Storm by Jennifer Lefort
Goodreads (reading now)

Check out Goodreads to read what its about, but basically 2 people are residing inside one body, she is Fey,  and this piece is a part where she looks in the mirror, and is confused.

Who are you, she wonders. She stares at the girl (in mirror) with dark hair and violet color eyes. She searches her face in hopes an answer will form. Why does she have the face of the girl who entered her thoughts? This girl who fled from the village. She fought the Fallen, and entered the cave. This is the one they know as Cara, but she is not Cara. She had golden hair, like her mother. Her eyes were jade, and she stood taller. Her skin held more color, and her face was not small and round, but slender and longer. She did not have silver lines on her face and body. These were the markings of a child of Cessair. A blessed one. She knew she was not blessed. She remembered fighting the Fallen. She remembered killing the queen. She remembered dying, but then there was the light.
The Stone.
The fire.
And now she stares through the eyes of a stranger. A gifted, blessed by the mother of the gods. Her thoughts started to crumble. What has happened to me? I am no more. Who am I?

First Chapter First Paragraph - Tuesday Intros Hosted by Bibliophile By The Sea

Every Tuesday I will participate in the Tuesday Intro First Chapter-First Paragraph Intros.
These are books we decided to read based on the first paragraph or so. Then find another “Teaser” in the book somewhere to catch our interest. Leave me a comment with link to your post, and if your a new follower be sure to let me know. I want to be sure to follow back.

Chapter one
A taxicab raced down the dock, came to a stop, and a girl laden with shopping bags flew out.
Everyone at the rails of the ship yelled as she rushed toward the gangway. She was a 'runner', one of the students who had pushed the all-aboard time to the limit. She vanished into the ship to a mix of boos and cheers.
"She's going to be cleaning tables tomorrow," my roommate, Laurie, snickered.
Most of us had taken the all-aboard time and subsequent punishments for being late seriously, and had been on the ship for over an hour. The majority of the people watching the runners had changed into pajama bottoms or sweatshirts with Semester Aboard-Study Abroad written on them. We were students on a cruise ship that had been turned into a floating campus.

Teaser Kindle location 2568
(this is a tease for me, as I just started this book, so flipped to random page to get a tease, lol)

I had spent my childhood, and even some recent years, daydreaming about magic. For me that dream had come true, and I couldn't just stop using magic because I had had a bad night. I glances up at the sink and saw my wand balanced on the edge. I had a magic wand! I'd be crazy to not want to be a witch. Then, for the first time since I had gone down to Deck Three, I felt better. I had a magic wand. I was going to get stronger! Just because I was too weak to fight vampires now didn't mean I always would be. I could practice fire magic and get better.

I hoped you liked my teasers, make sure to leave a comment with your link, would love to come see all the teasers out there.
Be sure to check out my giveaway, and the up and coming tours with giveaway, will have them all through August and Sept. Check the buttons upper right sidebar.

Demoness of Waking Dreams by Stephanie Chong Book Review

The Demoness of Waking Dreams by Stephanie Chong

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Publisher: Harlequin MIRA Release Date August 28, 2012

I received this ARC from Netgalley for my honest review.

I will start off saying I actually really enjoyed this book, it’s well written, and has a plot that was original, and I loved it. I did NOT read the first book, and was thinking I would be quite lost, but found I was not. Stephanie did a great job of putting in important things from the first book, as dreams, or memories and such, in a very creative way. So it did not have a whole rundown of the first book, it felt more as a stand alone book, but just put in those parts needed to understand the story.

In a way, I am glad I did not read the first. I was able to come into this book, without already hating or liking anyone. Luciana is the one in this book that the Company of Angels is after, they always try to change the demons to good if possible, and I know many people have hated Luciana from the first book. I didn’t really care for her at first, but I could see there is remorse in her. Yes, I understand all the horrible things she has done, and did not like her for that, but the point of the Company of Angels is earning redemption, and I believe she is capable of it. I wont spoil the ending, but I have hope for Luciana.

I really, really liked Brandon, who wouldn’t, gorgeous muscled angel. Who wouldn’t? He is a truly good man, to be able to see the sliver of remorse and possible good in Luciana, when no one else would even try. The whole book sure kept you guessing on what would happen next. I think its unique how after each assignment that Brandon gets a new tattoo. (he doesn’t get it, it just appears) We get some new revelations about Brandon’s human death, on his murderer, but I will not tell you who. Leave that for you to find out.

So, regardless if you have read the first book or not, I recommend this book if you like the paranormal, with some passion in  there, some action and suspense. If you read the first book, then I am sure you will like this one. I do plan to go read the first one now. I am curious, as I found Arielle to be very unlikable in this book, on the verge of evil herself, wonder if she changes sides in the future. From angel to demon? Guess they can.

I will leave you with this quote from the book.

Kindle Location (ARC will change) 2970

Summary from Book:

Ex-cop Brandon Clarkson is an angel with an edge. His tough exterior is the perfect camouflage for his job—hunting down the most dangerous criminals on earth. A self-reliant and demanding lone wolf, Brandon is the perfect angel to track and capture demoness Luciana Rossetti.

Beneath the surface of Luciana's cool, green-eyed beauty lurks the heart of a malevolent killer. In the winding streets of Venice, she lures Brandon into her dark world of pleasure.

They are perfectly matched. Angel and demon. Man and woman. But only one can win the battle of wills, of strength and of desire.

When did you start Blogging?
I started about 3 months ago actually.
What is your favorite part of blogging?
I love being able to discuss books with other book lovers like me. No one in my home life likes to read like I do. Except my daughter, but now she reads less since she got older and has a boyfriend. (she is 19, so too cool to talk books with mom now) also the new discoveries I have found from my fellow bloggers.
What is your favorite book(s)?
That list would be very long, so I will just mention my top ones, lol.
All Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments Books, and Infernal Devices.
Jeannie Frost’s Night Huntress Series
And a few new books I really love are: Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Covenant series, and her Lux series.
The list could go on, but by looking around my blog you can see what I like for sure.
What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
Mainly some of the new friends I have met, and really appreciate the books I get to review, as my money situation in not good, so buying books was hard for me, I had to save what little I would get to buy books, and trade off what I did have, for new ones. I love that I can get a book for a review, granted many are ones I may not ever have discovered if I was not asked to review, but have found some books I really liked and enjoyed, and am eager for the sequels, so I think that overall is one thing I really like, is the new discoveries.

Q. Summer Reading. What was your favorite book that you were REQUIRED to read when you were in school?
well, this is a hard one, as I can't seem to remember any at all that I liked, seriously, I don't. Sorry to disappoint, but I did NOT like any Shakespeare and old stuff like that, I really do not like any old books, can't seem to understand their way of talking, and hate poems. So, I do not have an answer on this one. UPDATE: I seen someone post Where the Red Fern Grows, and remember, it was also a required book, and I LOVED it, and it made me cry.

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture at host post and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

Guardian (Halflings book 2) By Heather Burch Book Review

Guardian (Halflings, #2)

Guardian by Heather Burch

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Publication date : (expected pub) Oct 9 2012 by Zonderkidz

I received this complementary ARC copy from Edelweiss for my honest review.

Wow, let me start off saying this book is full of suspense and revelations that we get to discover. I do not want to spoil anything for anyone, so this review will not be as in depth as most are.
I will say, I still love Mace and Raven, and had a hard time with Nikki at times, but these times there seems to be a good reason that she acts the way she does. She does make some immature choices, which put her in that bad situation I mentioned.
Lets just say it puts her in those situations that I was disappointed in her for.

I really feel bad for Raven (he is a Halfling , half angel-half human) as he is in love with Nikki, and seems she is stringing the 2 guys along, As she chose Mace (also a halfling). Mace is perfect for her, but Raven is a good guy too, and feel I bad his feelings get hurt by Nikki. But Nikki also hurts Mace’s feelings too, but not on purpose, she doesn’t want either of them to be hurt. She also feels bad about how either of the Halflings can be damned for being with a human. It’s exciting on the new developments we find out about though.

This book is even better than the first one (Halflings) as the first was more of an introduction to the series, still a good one, but all the characters grow so much in this book.
Here are some good quotes/teasers for you.

Kindle location 1471 (uncorrected ARC proof, it will change in corrected copy)
(Mace and Nikki, from Mace’s POV)

What had been an exploration became a caress. “And what about you boys? Are you Safe?”
Mace’s wings stopped for a moment. “No,” he said, and even he could hear the sadness in his voice. “I wouldn’t say that.” Her fingers slipped away slowly. But instead of closing him off, she settled in by laying her head against his shoulder, her ear against the throbbing pulse in his throat. “I would. I’d say I’m safe with you, Mace. You’re my guardian.” She drew a deep breath, lungs filling with air, filling with him. On the exhales she whispered, “My guardian angel.”

Mace is so sweet, and every girls dream guy! I mean, cerulean blue eyes, how gorgeous is that?
Another good part:

Kindle location 2564 (uncorrected ARC proof will change)
She thought she’s already run the gamut of sensations in the course of this day, but the press of his mouth to hers created a new barrage of feelings. Her awareness heightened as she felt the shockwave rock his system. Mace deepened the kiss, barely, but somehow monumentally. And Nikki knew as soon as she pulled the breath he released into her lungs that there’d be no going back. They’d just crossed a line. She wouldn’t apologize for this. It felt right be in his arms. To truly be his. How could she have ever doubted? He pulled away gently, but it felt as though they were still connected. Maybe they were. On some deep level that went far beyond feeling, it felt like their souls intertwined. And she didn’t think any power on earth could reverse that.

So sweet, and one more for you, this is more of a short teaser for you.
Kindle location 5075 (ARC uncorrected)

Her eyes me Mace’s across the lawn. He watched the gold in them darken, deepening almost to black. He staggered, grabbed Raven for support. She can’t be…Will said it would be impossible to hide.

Interested yet? I bet you are. It’s a great book, and if you have not read Halflings yet, go get it, then get this one when it’s out. In fact, read Halflings, then read the free ebook 11:15: The Making of a Halfling and then read another new short story that’s free called A Halflings Rescue. They are nice short stories, will give you some extra fun stuff.
Highly recommended, for all ages. This story is a new spin on the angel’s books out there, not fallen angels, actual Half angels. It’s quite interesting.

Summary from book:

Vigilance. The mission to safeguard Nikki Youngblood depends on the fragile alliance of two half-angel, half-human guardians, both struggling with intense feelings for the girl who has been assigned to their care. Mace, steadfast and deeply in love, wants to protect Nikki at all costs, while Raven's loyalty to Nikki finds him advocating for her independence and battling his own darker inclinations. At the same time, Nikki finds it harder and harder to choose between the two heavenly beings she may never have. Dangers intensify, and tensions between Mace and Raven flare as the purpose of their mission becomes clear. Can their defenses hold up to master manipulator Damon Vessler and the powerful secret he holds regarding Nikki's heritage? Can anyone protect Nikki from her true purpose and destiny?

(Mace thinking of Nikki , hos Pov in this part)
How could standing with the girl you love feel so desperately lonely? She was right in thinking everything was on the line. Not just him, not just his eternity, but her safety. Fact was, she was still in danger, and a boat ride across the ocean didn’t change that. Breaking one rule meant breaking more. Hadn’t he learned that the hard way? And breaking the rules could only mean one thing: failure.
He’d put her in danger by trying to be too close to her. They had to watch their emotions. If they didn’t Nikki might pay for the mistakes with her life.
He might have been willing to gamble with his eternity-no matter how stupid that was-but he could never gamble with Nikki’s safety, especially now. Her fate could effect…well, the world as they all knew it.

Tease 2 Kindle location 930 as stated before uncorrected proof ARC, it could change, in fact it should, as there is lots of repeat sentences in this book , and typos)
(Nikki POV with Mace)
He scooted a fraction closer so his head tilted toward her, and all that salty scent came rushing at her. Closer and closer. Off in the distance, a door opened and closed, but Nikki barely heard it. Mace’s cerulean eyes were locked on her and she couldn’t breathe.
The warmth of his fingers intertwined with hers. A quiver ran up her arm, setting her skin ablaze.
“Well, Captain will be pleased to know you two have rearranged the cups”
That now irritating voice, thick with an Australian accent, interrupted her blissful moment. She refused to drag her eyes from Mace.
“Not sayin’ I’d have chosen the galley floor for storage, but I never claimed to understand Yanks,” Sky said, his casual tone laced with humor.

I choose The Rise of the Nine (book 3 Lorien Legacies) by Pitticus Lore Add to Goodreads | My Review Publication date August 21, 2012
Chapter One
(from Six’s POV this part)
6A Seriously? I look at the boarding pass in my hand, its large type announcing my seat assignment, and wonder if Crayton chose this seat on purpose. It could be a coincidence, but the way things have gone recently, I am not a big believer in coincidences. I wouldn’t be surprised if Marina sat down behind me in row seven, and Ella made her way back to row ten. But no, the two girls drop down beside me without saying a word, and join me in studying each person boarding the plane. Being hunted, you are constantly on guard. Whol knows when the Mogadorians might appear.
Crayton will board last, after he’s watched to see who else gets on the plane, and only once he feels the flight is absolutely secure.
I raise the window shade and watch the ground crew hustle back and forth under the plane. The city of Barcelona is a faint outline in the distance.
Marina’s knee bounces furiously up and down next to mine. The battle against an army of Mogadorians yesterday at the lake, the death of her Cepan, finding her Chest-and now, it’s the first time in almost eleven years that she’s left the town where she spent her childhood. She’s nervous.
“Everything okay?” I ask. My newly blond hair falls into my face and startles me. I forgot I dyed it this morning. It’s just one of the many changes in the last forty-eight hours.
“Everyone looks normal,” Marina whispers, keeping her eyes on the crowded aisle. “We’re safe, as far as I can tell.”
“Good, but that’s not what I meant,” I gently set my foot on hers and she stops bouncing her knew. She offers me a quick apologetic smile before returning to her close watch of each boarding passenger. A few seconds later, her knee starts bouncing again. I just shake my head.
I feel sorry for Marina. She was locked up in an isolated orphanage with a Cepan who refused to train her. Her Cepan had lost sight of why we were here on Earth in the first place. I’m doing my best to help her, to fill in the gaps. I can train her to learn how to control her strength and when to use her developing Legacies. But first I’m trying to show her that it’s okay to trust me.
The Mogadorians will pay for what they’ve done. For taking so many who we’ve loved, here on Earth and on Lorien. It’s my personal mission to destroy every last one of them, and I’ll be sure Marina gets her revenge too. Not only did she just lose her best friend, Hector, back at the lake, but, like me, her Cepan was killed right in front of her. We will both carry that with us forever.
“How is it down there, Six?” Ella asks, leaning over Marina.
I turn back towards the window. The men below the plane begin to clear away their equipment, conducting a few last-minute checks. “So far, so good.”
My seat is directly over the wing, which is comforting to me. On more than one occasion I’ve had to use my Legacies to help a pilot out of a jam. Once, over southern Mexico, I used my telekinesis to push the plane a dozen degrees to the right, only seconds before crashing into the side of a mountain. Last year I got 124 passengers safely through a vicious thunderstorm over Kansas by surrounding the plane with an impervious cloud of cool air. We shot through the storm like a bullet through a balloon.
(I will end there, that’s part of chapter one. Now for a good teaser)
Kindle Location 1554 from uncorrected advance copy, it could change.
(from Marina number 7’s POV)
“Look what I found, Eight!”
Eight disappears from the grass and reappears up in the air next to the Chest. He wraps his arms around it and hugs it. Slime and all. Then he teleports back to the edge of the lake, the Chest still in his hands. “I can’t believe it,” Eight finally says. “All this time, it was right here.” He looks stunned.
“It was inside a Mog ship at the bottom of the lake,” I say, walking out of the water.
Eight disappears again and teleports directly in front of me, our noses practically touching.
